About Kennett, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in Dunklin County, Missouri, Kennett is the county seat. This city is found in the southeast corner of the state, and it is only four miles from the Arkansas border. As of2010, it was home to nearly 11,000 residents, and it is one of the largest cities in the region. In addition to the two public schools found in Kennett, there are also two branches of higher educational institutions located here – Southeast Missouri State University and Three Rivers College. Notable residents of Kennett have included Sheryl Crow, Pulitzer Prize winner Sally Stapleton, and country music singers Trent Tomlinson and David Nail.
There are a variety of attractions located in Kennett that appeal to visitors and residents alike. The Semo Little Theatre Performing Arts Center hosts concerts and theatrical productions throughout the year, and the Palace Cinema is located in downtown Kennett. There are also a variety of natural areas for outdoor recreation, including the Little River Conservation Area and the Ben Cash Conservation Area.
Located in the southern portion of the state, Kennett is home to a humid subtropical climate zone. Winters are cool, and average high temperatures in January will reach about 45 degrees. Snowfall is also minimal here with less than a foot of accumulation each year. However, safeguards are still needed to stay warm when cold fronts push into the area, and a reliable heat pump or furnace will keep home temperatures comfortable.
Summers in Kennett are quite hot and humid, with average daily high temperatures in January reaching the mid-80s. However, there are several days per season in which temperatures exceed 100 degrees, and over 60 days per year have temperatures that exceed 90 degrees. A central air conditioning unit can keep residents comfortable during the hottest times of the year, and they can also improve indoor air quality.
